Halva made with tahini and sugar is one of our major traditional sweets dating back to the 1800s. The tahini used in Hacı Bekir halvas is made from local sesame seeds ground in stone mills. This tahini is combined with 100% beet sugar to make the halvas, some of which are flavored with cocoa or pistachios.
